Monsoon Battles Slingbox With HAVA Gold and HAVA Platinum
dealerscope.com, July 6, 2007
The digital video company Monsoon Multimedia this week announced the release of two new products that allow video-streaming and control of the customer’s TV, via a PC or mobile phone. The HAVA Gold and HAVA Platinum HD are both available now via Monsoon’s Web site.
Billed by the company as boasting “all the functionality of a Slingbox, but with many more features,” the HAVA products feature the ability to transmit video to more than one device simultaneously, as well as a lower price point.
The products connect through both cable and satellite, as well as DVDs and DVRs. The Platinum HD version also boasts “TiVo-like functionality” on its PC software, allowing the user to pause, rewind, and record footage, while also allowing burning of material onto a DVD.
The HAVA Gold device is available at a suggested retail price of $129.99; the HAVA Platinum HD carries a $159.99 price tag. A third product, HAVA Wireless HD, which had already been available, retails for $249.99.
