Windows 7 Media Center and HAVA Platinum HD

Postby dmihai on Sat Jan 10, 2009 10:08 am

I tried setting up my HAVA Platinum HD with Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.

The good news is that the HAVA PC Player standalone app works fine. Also, Media Center is able to playback video + audio from the HAVA.

However, the Media Center remote control doesn't work well. Pressing '4' on the remote control results in sending '444' through the HAVA blaster to my satellite STB, '5' results in '555', etc. This is a DirecTV H20 STB.

Everything (including the remote control) works fine on the same PC running Vista SP1.

Can someone make HAVA + Media Center work on Windows 7? The Windows 7 Beta build can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... nload.aspx.

Thanks.

I can't figure out how to install the hava IR Virtual blaster in the Windows 7. I can't find a way to manually add a device that it doesn't scan and find. Can you tell me how you did it or did you use a media center IR Blaster?

I used a MC blaster during the setup.

I am having the exact same issue on WIndows 7 Ultimate Beta build 7000 (64bit). Any ideas yet? Could we just let WMC control the set top box instead of Hava?

I have setup WMC to control STB and it all works fine now! Only issue I have now is that the video is very sluggish on my extender. It is complaining about network performance even though I have wired gigabit throughout - anyone seen this?

Windows 7? It just came out on beta...you can't be expecting Hava to support so soon?

John, I wan't necessarily *expecting* Windows 7 support so early. However, I was *hoping* for it, as soon as possible.

In my case it is harder to give up on the HAVA IR blaster, because the Satellite STB is in a different room.

hey all,

I was successful with using hava ir remote and the configure media center. My remote works fine with respect to changing channel as well.

-> Windows Start -> Type "hdwwiz.exe"

Follow the instructions as in the pdf and continue installation of the IR remote.

While configuring remote, you see two hava tuners. One says "remote hava" and other just "hava". Uncheck the remote one, for some reason when selected with remote, the ir blaster is undetected. Now just continue and finish the process.

Were any of you able to fix this issue. I am seeing the exact same thing on Build 7000 as well.

Any channel i sent to the tuner via MCE is essentially sent 3 times to the STB. So once i enter 500 it sends 500....500...500 to the receiver which is really annoying.

Thanks

Nope. Still waiting for a fix. Also, looking for a different device that I could use to replace the HAVA...

I don't know how much I can add to the above. I've gotten it to work with Win-7 however, I too have the - Send the Channel code three (3) times - issue. I used manual set top code entry and of the 13 codes given to try, none worked within the set up section. However, I answered they channel changed correctly and, upon viewing live TV, the channels did change correctly.

It's really a case of; Try this, Try that, and see what works.

Frustrating and pretty time consuming. I guess we have a ways to go before we get there.

I currently using Windows 7 RC1 and I'm still getting the 3 times issue as well. Anyone have a solution for this? The rest of the hava setup is working great though.
