I have Verizon fios TV, which uses a cable set top box similar to Comcast.
The remote is a bit different.
I chose Comcast and DCT6412 for my remote cotrol on the PC player and for the most part it works. Just wondering if there is a better selection, or if one is being developed in the next release?

We're not currently developing a specific Verizon FiOS remote control set.
We could do it but we'd need to get our hands on the actual remote control.
What functions aren't working?

Our resident IR expert HAVA Man indicates that the Comcast DCT64xx is indeed the correct remote code to use for the Verizon FiOS box.
Do let me know if there are specific functions which are not working.

Has the Verizon FiOS remote been configured/defined yet? More and more folks are getting this superior service and I would think efforts should be on the way (if not already) to do so.

Did you try the Comcast DCT6412 code (C1493) yet?

I just tried the Comcast DCT6412 code (C1493) and it works for the most part as the FiOS remote. If it helps and as long as I get it back, I can send you my remote so that you guys can configure it so all buttons work! Email me.

Send me a PM through the Forum telling me exactly what the limitations are and I can probably get you the key codes. If needed I'll take you up on your kind offer!

I have a non-DVR HD STB (Motorola QIP6200) and can't find the right set of codes that work correctly. With DCT6200 (a non-DVR model) and C1493 selected and using the Comcast remote skin, there are the following problems: 1) "Exit" is grayed out / unusable (also not available in the drop down so this is really bad -- no way to leave Verizon's Menu area with an Exit button) 2) "MyDVR" is active; this is not a DVR unit 3) "Power" button is grayed out / unusable (but Power On/Off is available in the dropdown and works) 4) "Setup" is enabled and acts at the Power On/Off button 5) "On Demand" is grayed out / unusable With DCT64xx/C1493 selected and using the Comcast remote skin, clicking on "Menu" sends some kind of DVR related code to the box; so no way to get to get to Verizon's Menu area at all (and you don't want to know the time I spent thinking/troubleshooting/posting that something was wrong with Verizon's new software pushed out to my region because of this ) Those are just a few. If you haven't received a Verizon / Philips remote (I think it is) yet, let me know and we'll work something out Cheers!

Hi TheTechGuy, This is definitely a step in the right direction I'm wondering, which "skin" do you recommend? The Scientific Atlanta seems to be best? The Comcast one still has issues. Let me know if you want me to list them (most noticeable are the Power button is still grayed out but Setup works as the Power toggle; and while VOD is enabled, it doesn't actually do anything; on the other hand, the SA doesn't even have a VOD button). Thanks for this! Cheers!

You may use any Skin and for the Missing Buttons you may use the Drop down list of the remote to use the missing comand.
By the Way are all the Functions available Now using the new Code?

I have Verizon FiOS in the Tampa, FL area, and the non-DVR boxes issued here are the Motorola QIP2500 (with various suffixes, -1, -3), I suggest ya'll try "Cable", "Motorola" and "CFT2000". (*I* love it. YMMV.)
I tried-out the Comcast 64XX and the download/unzip/move/select S1401 code .bin files method suggested for the other QIP6200 models, but results were lackluster (Comcast) and no-go (s1401) with this model box.
Quirks: (Noticed so far with this selection...) (1) None of the virtual remote controls look anything like the one that comes with the unit. (Pbbbbt! Who cares? Get over it. ) (2) "Menu" button doesn't bring up the master menu, BUT!... (3) ...if you click on the "SATELLITE/CABLE BOX" button-like-thingy above the picture of the virtual remote (which brings-up a list) and select "Menu, Settings" it DOES take you to the master menu.
So -- so far -- I can get to all the functions needed to run this puppy.
Probably the wrong thread in which to mention this, (It's my first day with this awesome new toy, first forum posting) but I tried it out through my Verizon BroadBand Data (Cellular Internet) connection with the laptop's WiFi turned off. Runs at -- and uses -- around 300-500 MB of bandwidth and looks GREAT -- even when driving down the road at 55 MPH. (Kids are gonna LOVE this!)

Dear Customer,
For QIP2500 you may kindly run the HAVA Setup Wizard and Select Motorola DCT2500. It will work with QIP2500 Model as well.

I have FIOS with a Motorola QIP6416-2 HD-DVR. I selected DCT6416 and it seems that most functions are working, even on the fancier skins. (even the exotic one such as "aspect ratio"). One exception I found: The Play button does not work (tried many skins: Comcast, Uverse, dish.) This is not a big deal, because it seems the pause button acts as a toggle between play/pause so "play" is not really needed. I wish there was a better matching remote skin available. I have the Philips RC1445302 that can be seen here: http://netservices.verizon.net/portal/link/help/index.jsp?epi_menuItemID=c567d167631f692124525d7253295c48&subId=14930FIOS will be very popular, so this should be implemented at one point. Thanks!

I have been FIOS user for almost a year and have taken the "best" option. It's not perfect, kind of a kludge. It'd be nice to have a complete one.
Why not open up the ability to create exact matches and skins to your user community? That way you could reduce your development costs and have a happier user community?
