I'm surely hoping we will see Hava player for android in the near future regardless of whether Hava is slow or not in releasing updates and how many developers work for the company.

Hava are working on it I believe. A new system that will support windows MAc and Linux for all current and future models, which are being developed. Hava already uses Linux to run the recording feature. Patience is what we need. There are things I would like right now but are not available. But I am patient as there isn't any other choice really. If it was so easy to write a platform that supports multiple OS, multiple phones from different manufacturers, multiple STB's for satellite, digital cable TV and other systems then we could all just write our own code and not have to ask for things. Not hard to do I see many write.

I am sure if Hava released the necessary tools and documentation we would already have Linux/Mac/Android/Kitchen Sink players already. Theres some very skilled people out there but like anything, theres only so much you can do without the full documentation.

The fact that Sling won't support Android could be a boon for Hava. The future for Android handsets is huge. The smart phone space will be dominated by Android by 2011 making iPhone and WimMo just niche players. There will be 40 Android handset models by May of next year.
If Hava has the only Android client then it could drive sales to the Hava unit.
Go forward Hava, let's get this going ASAP.
I, for one, would be thrilled to be a beta tester for the client software.
I'm running Android 2.0 on a Droid.

Here it is HONESTLY guys/gals at HAVA,I have a Classic Slingbox, Slingbox does not have support for my NEW DROID yet. The way it looks, even if they do get the software, I will have to upgrade to a new Slingbox anyway. I don't care which system I buy AS LONG AS IT RUNS ON MY DROID. If you're first, I'm SURE you will get the majority of the ANDROID/DROID business... WORD ACCROSS THE ANDROID & SLINGBOX COMMUNITIES WILL SPREAD LIKE WILD FIRE.Good luck, and I hope you win and I will DEFINATELY buy your product IF YOU DEVELOP FIRST FOR DROID. The space race is on! Sincerely, DanDroid

Just a heads up for you Driod owners,
I agree that it would be good, but I have a Blackberry (note the single most popular smartphone brand on the planet) and they annouced that they were working on that platform YEARS ago with still nothing for any BB device. I have sadly accepted that Hava caring about you after you buy their product.

I always thought number one was Nokia with it's symbian operating system, 52% market share worldwide. Second Blackberry, 20%. And Iphone with 8%. There is still windows smartphones with 12% total. So far Hava released players for iphone, windows and symbian so the chances are blackberries and android phones are next in line.

Developing for Android would seem to be a no-brainer, given that Gartner predicts that Android will trail only Symbian in smartphone market share in as little as three years http://www.electronista.com/articles/09 ... n.3.years/ And with Android being ported to netbooks and other devices, the rationale for developing for Android is even more compelling. Those that lead the pack thrive, those that fall behind die; that's the law of both the jungle and of technology.

fyi Droid is set to break the 1 million mark...that seems to support what everyone is saying, and that's only ONE device with the android OS. Android is here to stay. http://gigaom.com/2009/11/30/droid-q4-sales/Google is working on a Gphone. Which is only going to strengthen the Android OS for smart phones. http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/11/17/thegoogle-phone/I don't think it's a market issue with hava, I just think hava isn't going to do it. Maybe it's too hard? I mean even the Mobile software they have doesn't work right? Updates are over a year apart? I'm not holding my breath. If sling has it first, my hava will go on ebay for pennies on the dollar. TV on my device was not a huge issue for me at first, but a 3.7" screen in this resolution made me change my mind. In the mean time folks have a work around in case anyone's interested. http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid ... b-com.htmlHava impresses me...these business practices would have put anyone else out of business.

MAN I was sad to see this, I just switched from windows moble phones over to Android ones and I was wanting to see support for this.
I work for the 2nd largest cable co. in the U.S. and I have had my HAVA HD WIRELESS for many years and have sold many, many, many customers on the HAVA! based on what I can show them with my PHONE and my LAPTOP. (when I had the windows moble phone) I would talk many of them out of getting the sling box and going with the HAVE based on all the luck and not one problem with the have.
I sure hope to see the ANDROID support soon.
your BEST SALESMAN

A I had a Sling Box when I was on WinMo, switched to a Nokia s60 device and spent a decent chunck of change on a HAVA Titanium HD WiFi just cause it would work with my nokia....Now I have a Droid on Android ...So like many others I am Waiting for who ever comes out with a Android mobile player first Sling or Hava and they will get my continued buisness.
