Recording Suggestions/Requests

Postby HandyMan on Tue Jan 20, 2009 10:24 pm

I realize that these points have been made in the past, but as a new HAVA owner (Great product btw, thank you), I would like to reiderate some suggestions.

-In the recording setting, It would be great to set reoccuring options where you set weekly/monthly options.

-Also, I would like to have more than one recording scheduled (the more the better) at a time.

(Since recording requires a HDD, maybe the Hard Drive could be used if memory was a problem for storage of scheduled events to record.)

I would also love to be able to view recorded content remotely, I understand why it can not be viewed on the TV it is connected to, but I hope you are comming close to tackling the problems the restrict remote viewing of recorded content from the HDD. THis would make the Hava a much more attractive DVR to everyone.

Thanks again for a great product.

-A very happy owner.

You could record your content straight to a USB HDD on your computer. take that and hookup to any computer with HAVA software. The HAVA only needs to know which directory to playback from. Or upload recording to an FTP site.

Of course if you record on a remote conenction you can watch remotely.

Yes, but if you record remotely, you record to that computer you are viewing on and can only watch the recording from that computer. I was hoping for acess to the external HDD I already have set up to the HAVA when I am watching remotely, and let it stream the HDD content over the internet to my remote computer.

I just bought the titanium wifi hava and I _really_ want this feature too... in fact I thought it had it when I bought it, from the descriptions of the product. This would be the killer app... I really hope they can put it in a firmware update, soon.

From what is being said about having to attach the flash drive to a machine with the player, I assume it's recording to a proprietary format so we can't even just upload the mpeg2 or mpeg4 files via ftp to a server where we could download and watch them elsewhere without the 80meg+ player download?

Luckily I can set up my satellite reciver to do that for me.

What we cannot do at the moment at least with the HAVA PLATINUM is have it setup on a live stream and schedule the times to record. I am just glad to be able to record anything at all.

I have email this scheduled recording to the HAVA management.

Hopefully in the future more functions will be added by these things take time, as we all know.

This discussion has stopped several months back so I want to bring it up again.

I understand that you guys at HAVA are busy with many things but can we expect to be able to schedule multiple recordings on external hard drive any time soon? This would be very useful as it will mean that HAVA can be used as a standalone DVR. I was hoping to get this feature when I bought my HAVA and I know a lot of people would like to have it before they will buy HAVA.

Totally agree that multiple recordings on an external hard drive would be awesome. I just installed my Hava Titanium HD and am pleased with everything except being able to only schedule one recording. I travel a ton and would love to be able to set up multiple recordings for college games I miss while on the road.

Just to keep this core request going...

PLEASE have someone on staff work on a more robust recording scheduler :D

Some of the must have features for this should include:
- Recurring recordings (daily, weekly, monthly)
- A simple capacity mgt. process (keep this recording: 1 week, 1 month, to MM/DD/YYYY, delete as drive reaches capacity)
- External HDD is available to all remote players to stream recorded shows
- Getting fancier (could leverage opensource guides?) :
-A guide
-click to record show
-same recording options above, the model being of course basic Cable DVR/Tivo capabilities

This is a tremendous product where the DVR feature could be a huge differentiating factor for you!

Hava Development/Engineering, please keep us updated on your plans and progress.
