Vista MCE "Virtual" IR blaster 64-Bit

Postby telledge on Mon Jun 15, 2009 7:35 am

Has anyone gotten the "Virtual" IR Blaster to work under Vista 64-Bit?

I've scaned the Forums but have not been able to find the correct instructions.

Thanks - tom

Nope I haven't been able to do it. Windows 7 64bit won't see any IR available. I posted as such in the post just below this one you created.

Very frustrating since I just purchased my hava for 2 reasons which is virtual tuner support (which doesn't in any capture app that supports tuners like Flash Encoder, Windows Media Encoder, Expression Encoder) and for the MCE integration.

This is what put Hava over the top for me over Slingbox. Except none of these work as expected.

Otherwise the Hava is doing fine but these were the killer features for me.

Gary-MM,

How about a reply here. You have been promising 64-bit support for a long time and even released a 64-bit IRBlaster dll. How about a little info here. Should I call customer support for some answers? WMC support is a key feature of your products but instructions for implementation are very sparce. How about something in the FAQ section or an official entry here in the Forums on how to implement this feature.

Thanks - tom

Unfortunately I am just about regretting my Hava purchase now.

All the features Hava had above and beyond actually end up being non-supported for the most part.

1. Virtual Tuner does not act like a properly implemented tuner in tuner-aware applications.

2. IR Blaster won't work in 64bit. I'm sorry but maybe 2-3 years ago this was more acceptable but not today. >3GB machines require 64bit. 4GB machines are not uncommon any longer.

Not to seem to pile-on this topic, but do think it is worth posting to stress that several are now using the 64 bit version of Windows. It really would be nice to get the IR blaster to work in 64 bit. For me, I really don't want to go buy a "bean-bag" just to get MCE functionality unless absolutely necessary.

Perhaps I'm not doing something right, but I cannot get the Virtual IR blaster to work in Windows 7 - 64 bit either. I get a "file not found" error when following the instructions.

While I do not regret the purchase, it would be great if it was a bit more integrated with MCE.

Thank you for any help / assistance.

My Specs:
Windows 7 - 64 bit / 8Gb RAM / 4 TB disk space / Quad Core AMD 2.33 Processor
Hava Platinum HD

I am keenly interested in the 64-bit version too. I really don't care if it is signed either, so if there's an unsigned copy, please post it. I already have to run in test signing mode for several other peripherals (MS really is a pain in the @$$.) The integration with WinMCE is really important to me.

So yeah... um... "Me too!"

Feels like MC support is halted for ongoing Windows editions because we haven't seen one reply in over a month if this is going to be addressed or not.

I think I've used my Hava once since purchasing it because of this problem. I can't install 32 bit edition of Windows since I need >4GB of ram on my PC.

Well after upgrading to Win7-64bit, I find the only way to get more than 1 (I have 1 beanbox IR) PC working with MCE/Hava is to buy a bean box?!?!

Let's get the dang Virtual IR Blaster baked in 64 bit please :-) With Win7 in retail, more people are going 64bit.

Gary, is it really that vastly different from the Vista version?

Alas - we are moving up to Win7-64 and of course, at a standstill on MCE not working with Virtual IR Blaster. Hope this comes soon and also not sure why this has not been done during the Vista 64 builds being they have been out for a few years.

I have 2 hava's on my network - granted, at random when I open to which it will grab first, but if it is wrong - I open VLC albet not as pretty as MCE.
